Alleged Gravel from Anak Krakatau Takes to the Thousand Islands

siaran id. Jakarta - Suspected volcanic material from Gunung Anak Krakatau is carried by the ocean currents to the Thousand Islands. Volcanic material in the form of gravel is found on a number of islands.

"Not ash, but there is material carried by the current like a small pebble floating," said Thousand Islands Regent Husein Murad when asked for confirmation on Friday (12/28/2018).

The volcanic material allegedly from Anak Krakatau was monitored into the waters of the Thousand Islands on Wednesday (26/12) including Pulau Putri, Harapan Island, Pramuka Island and Tidung Island. The clerk did the cleaning.

In addition, he also coordinated with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Geology Agency to ensure that the gravel carried by the current to the Thousand Islands came from Anak Krakatau. At present the gravel material is brought to the Mitra Praja building.




"We will ensure coordination from Anak Krakatau or not," Husein said.

The latest is the activity of Gunung Anak Krakatau, monitored by BMKG earthquake sensors. The earthquake equivalent activity of magnitude 3 does not have the potential to cause a tsunami.

The activity was recorded on Friday (28/12) at 05.11.30 WIB. The center is on Gunung Anak Krakatau, precisely at coordinates 6.08 LS and 105.41 BT at a depth of 1 km.
